1. What is Javeria Zoa like at home and at work?
While there is not a lot of time spent at home but when I do, I like to spend it with my family and loved ones. At work, I like to keep it fun with a slight touch of strictness so we don’t fall behind any deadlines.
2. How and when did you become interested in fashion?
I always liked to spend my time in creative activities like painting and designing for as long as I can remember. It was only a matter of time before I got into the fashion industry and it became my profession as well as my passion.
3. Which is your favorite designer and fashion inspiration?
My fashion inspiration is the glamorous Audrey Hepburn. Every time I look at her, a new idea pops into my mind. As for my favorite designer, it would have to be Coco Chanel because I admire the way she changed the fashion industry and revolutionized it.
4. How were you able to translate your talent into your profession?
I always thought that if you love doing something, then nothing can stop you from fulfilling your dream. You just need the determination to convert your dream into reality and that’s what I did.
5. Tell us about “Eminence”. What’s the whole concept behind it and how did you come up with the idea?
The idea behind Eminence is to show off the glamour and glitz of an era bygone. Radio Pakistan was a major source of inspiration at that time. As it was the only source of information, new and upcoming trends were conveyed to the people through this medium. In the earlier years of Pakistan, the fashion industry was booming which presented us with new and creative styles eternalized by some of our country’s best talent such as Noor Jahan which we have paid tribute to in Eminence.
6. Are you planning on taking out a prêt line? If so when do you plan to launch it?
Yes, new collections of prêt, formals, and bridals are in the pipeline so look forward to it.
7. How much time is required to design a dress? What creative tactics do you use to come up with a new design?
A single design usually takes around 10 – 15 days depending on the level of detail. There is a lot of research and brainstorming involved which helps to come up with new designs which are cohesive when put together in a collection.
8. You are bringing the 1950`s back in style. What challenges have you faced in aligning the old trend with the new one in order to make it fit in the current time frame?
We had to carefully design everything in a way so that the designs do not look outdated and also look modern while paying homage to the glamorous past.
9. What makes Javeria Zoa different from other brands?
For me, Javeria Zoa is not just a brand but a mark of my ambition and it makes me who I am. I have worked really hard and I know that anyone who buys our product will not be disappointed with the level of quality & the intricate designs.
10. In your opinion what is the biggest mistake a designer makes?
The biggest mistake that you can make as a designer is to overdo something without bringing aesthetic qualities to a design.
