In the heart of Karachi, a new vision of family living is emerging. The Urban Oasis, the latest project by Team Zulfiqar Paracha, isn’t just a house; it’s a home designed to foster connection, celebrate nature, and create lasting memories. With a legacy of over 42 years in the construction industry, Team Zulfiqar Paracha has honed their craft, moving from national monuments and high-rises to their true passion: building homes that resonate with warmth, individuality, and a deep understanding of family life.
The Urban Oasis, a 1000-yard property located in the desirable DHA Phase 8, exemplifies Team Zulfiqar Paracha’s philosophy of creating spaces that are both luxurious and livable. The Mediterranean and Spanish influences are evident in the soft exteriors, sloping roofs, and rich woodwork, creating a sense of timeless elegance. But it’s the seamless flow between indoor and outdoor spaces that truly defines this home.
The concept of indoor-outdoor living is more than just a design trend at The Urban Oasis; it’s a way of life. Terraces invite residents to step out and enjoy the lush surroundings, while the Van Gogh-inspired pool provides a serene focal point. Inside, green courts and skylights bring the outdoors in, creating a sense of connection with nature. Even the basement is designed to be a bright and airy space, thanks to thoughtful ventilation and natural light.
Team Zulfiqar Paracha understands that a family home needs to be both beautiful and functional. The Urban Oasis boasts six spacious bedrooms, ensuring ample space for every member of the family. Multiple lounges provide areas for relaxation and entertainment, while a multifunctional hall offers endless possibilities for gatherings and celebrations. The thoughtfully designed layout, with its unique three-sided front elevation and rectangular interior spaces, allows for both visual interest and practical living.
The artistic touches throughout The Urban Oasis elevate it beyond the ordinary. Hand-cut glass mosaics, hand-painted tiles, and a Japanese-inspired mural showcase Paracha’s commitment to detail and his appreciation for art. The furniture and interiors, impeccably curated by Zahra Ibrahim, complements the architecture, creating a sense of sophisticated comfort. Carpets by Abbas carpets and artwork from Chawkandi Art Gallery adds a final layer of polish, making The Urban Oasis a home that is as beautiful as it is welcoming.
We speak to partners and project heads Zulfiqar Paracha and Sara Adnan Paracha about their work and The Urban Oasis:
GT: Mr. Paracha, thank you for welcoming us into the world of Zulfiqar Paracha homes. Your legacy in Pakistani real estate and architecture is undeniable, from national monuments to now, these exquisite residences. Can you tell us about the vision that drives your brand?
Zulfiqar Paracha: My journey in construction spans over 42 years, exploring diverse projects. But my true passion lies in crafting homes. In 1999, I decided to focus solely on creating unique, practical homes of exceptional quality. Our goal is simple: we don’t make houses; we make homes. Homes where warmth, family bonding, comfort, and the joy of living supersede even the most luxurious resorts.
GT: What emotions do you hope your brand evokes?
Zulfiqar Paracha: We are a family brand. We want our homes to embody warmth, family values, comfort, and the sheer joy of ownership.
GT: What inspires you?
Zulfiqar Paracha: My travels, particularly to Spain, Italy, the Czech Republic, and Hungary, have profoundly impacted my design language. Collaborating with the talented architects on our team is what brings my visions to life.
GT: Let’s talk about your latest project, The Urban Oasis. What was the core concept?
Zulfiqar Paracha: The Urban Oasis is about blurring the lines between indoors and outdoors. We wanted a space where one is constantly connected to nature. From the terraces overlooking the Van Gogh-inspired pool to the skylights and green courts, every element reinforces this connection. The basement is surprisingly well-lit and ventilated. It’s a true wellness retreat.
GT: Any standout features you’d like to highlight?
Zulfiqar Paracha: The house is angled in a way that creates a unique three-sided front elevation. Yet, the interior spaces are rectangular for practicality and furnishing flexibility. We’ve also included provisions for a lift, solar panels, security systems, and other modern amenities.
GT: Sustainability is a growing concern. How does The Urban Oasis address this?
Zulfiqar Paracha: We’ve maximized natural light with large windows and skylights, significantly reducing the need for artificial lighting. The extensive indoor and outdoor landscaping, curated by Durriya Kazi, ensures the plants thrive throughout the year.
GT: Sara, it’s a pleasure to discuss The Urban Oasis, your family’s latest project. It’s more than just a house; it feels like a work of art. What’s it like being part of this creative process?
Sara Adnan Paracha: It’s incredibly rewarding. My father’s vision is so inspiring. He pours his heart into every detail, and it’s a privilege to see it all come to life. The Urban Oasis is a reflection of his passion for creating homes that are both beautiful and functional.
GT: Your father has a remarkable legacy. How has that influenced your involvement in the brand?
Sara Adnan Paracha: His dedication to quality and craftsmanship is ingrained in everything we do. He’s taught us the importance of understanding our clients’ needs and creating spaces that truly resonate with them. He instills in us the importance of not just building houses, but crafting homes where families can create lasting memories.
GT: The artistic details are truly captivating. Can you tell us more about the selection process?
Sara Adnan Paracha: My father is a huge admirer for art but our associate, Miss Durrya Kazi has also been a huge part of our selection process. The Van Gogh-inspired pool, the hand-cut glass mosaics, the hand-painted tiles, the Japanese mural – these were all carefully chosen to complement the overall design and add a touch of personality.
GT: The interiors also play a crucial role in the home’s ambiance.
Sara Adnan Paracha: Absolutely. Zahra Ebrahim and her team have a huge role to play in that. From false ceilings to furniture selection to picking the right accessories, their support is what helped bring it all together. The interiors definitely enhance the overall aesthetic and create a sense of sophisticated living.
GT: What makes The Urban Oasis stand out from other luxury homes in Karachi?
Sara Adnan Paracha: It’s the attention to detail, the seamless integration of art and architecture, and the emphasis on creating a true oasis of tranquility. The indoor-outdoor living experience, the abundance of natural light, and the carefully curated artwork and furniture all contribute to its unique character. It’s a home that truly speaks to the soul.
GT: What do you hope people will feel when they experience The Urban Oasis?
Sara Adnan Paracha: We want them to feel a sense of warmth, comfort, and joy. We want them to feel like they’ve found their own personal retreat, a place where they can relax, recharge, and connect with their loved ones. We want them to feel proud to call it home.
GT: What’s next for Zulfiqar Paracha homes?
Sara Adnan Paracha: We will continue to strive for excellence, pushing the boundaries of design and creating homes that are both timeless and innovative. We are committed to upholding my father’s legacy and continuing to build homes that are not just structures, but works of art.
The Urban Oasis is more than just a house; it’s a place where families can come together, connect with nature, and create memories that will last a lifetime. It’s a testament to Team Zulfiqar Paracha’s vision of creating homes that are not just structures, but true reflections of family, warmth, and the joy of living. It’s a haven where life’s most precious moments unfold.
