Influencer and socialite Sara Zahid takes us inside her closet
How would you describe your personal style?
My personal style has two extremes, I’m either dressed to the nines or in sweats and most times it’s the latter. I’d say it’s comfy glam…if that’s a thing?
Your favourite fashion designer?
Definitely Karl Lagerfeld, such a legend. I love what he has done for Chanel and actually love buying from his own label as well.
Do you believe in sustainable fashion? Have you changed your wardrobe to make it more sustainable in the recent years?
I definitely believe in sustainable fashion since I’m such a hoarder, I need my clothes to last me a long time (even if I’ll only wear them once lol). To be honest, I was into fast fashion since I didn’t want to ever repeat outfits on my insta feed but now that has completely changed. I invest into classic pieces and always change at least one aspect of the outfit when I re-wear it to make it look different and fun. I’ve also tried to shift my focus from branded bags/shoes to buying jewelry because it retains value and there’s no wear and tear.
Where is Pakistan do you love to shop?
Sana Safinaz, Elan and Zaha.
What is the oldest item in your closet?
Probably the saris from my mother’s bridal trousseau.
What, in your opinion, are must have items that are essential to a great closet?
Having staples that fit you well in neutral colours and some statement items for that pop of colour. A black pant that goes with almost everything, a structured blazer, a nice pair of straight jeans, under garments that fit (SO IMPORTANT). Also, having a comfy yet glam pair of black heels will change your life.
Your most prized possession?
My first diamond ring gifted by my mom.
Your favourite accessory?
Definitely earrings. I think they also help in framing your face.
What item in your closet makes you cringe?
Chanel heels that I desperately want to love but they give me granny vibes sadly. Will keep them till I’m 60 and then maybe I can wear them.

Makeup artist Henna Baig of The Cutting Edge Salon talks to us about her hair and makeup secret
Makeup trends for summer?
The Korean gradient lip tint! It adds enough colour to the lips without making them look outlined and done. Eyes are matte in earthy or neutral shades with individual false lashes and brushed out eyebrows.
What are some tips to make foundation look natural during the summer?
l      Use a low coverage matte foundation (preferably mineral or liquid)
l      Conceal only if and where required
l      Let the weather and the natural skin oils play as highlight, adding extra highlight will only make the face look sweaty.
How do you suggest people protect their natural skin and hair from makeup and styling?

What is your go-to skincare routine?
I like to cleanse and tone my skin daily. I scrub twice a week at night, followed by a sleep in face mask. Always use sunscreen and moisturizer!
Never sleep with makeup on!
Keep yourself hydrated!
What mistakes do most brides make in your opinion? If you could give the brides who come to you advice, what would it be?
Keep yourself hydrated at all times! Don’t neglect your body and the nutrition and hydration it needs weeks prior to your big day. Also, red is not always the way to go. Brides should look into peaches, off-whites, golds and pinks as they compliment our skin tones. There should be one focus point in the makeup, either glam up the eyes or the lips. Don’t do both! A no makeup look is done with makeup. It doesn’t mean that you use NO makeup.
What challenges have you faced as an MUA in Pakistan?
Clients have these heavily filtered photos and videos saved as makeup inspo where all the brides look like flawless porcelain dolls. It’s impossible to match their unrealistic expectations.
What consists of your everyday makeup kit?
Moisturizer, concealer, mascara, brow gel, lip and cheek tint.
Top 5 foundations?
l      Guerlain
l      NARS
l      Bobbi brown
l      Too faced
l    MAC
Hira Khan is the epitome of grace in this pink and white look. She pairs a hot pink sweater with flared white pants and a Valentino bag. Hira wears her hair in lose waves and we think she looks absolutely perfect for the summer.
Once again,
Hussain Rehar is the undefeated best dressed male in literally all of Lahore. The ace fashion designer pairs a mustard top with blue pants and chunky black shoes. We love the pop of colour his red bag adds. 10/10!
One of our favourite looks this fortnight was Shanzay Sheikh in Mahnoor Iqbal. This kurta is such a work of art. We love a good floral print without it being too overwhelming. Shanzay wears her hair black in a sleek ponytail and accessorizes with silver earrings and silver heels.
Amna Baber stuns in this silk button down paired with a silk skirt. She pairs her outfit with pointy louboutins and keeps her hair and makeup simple. We love the entire look!
One of our favourite traditional looks this fortnight was Rabia Butt in this stunning gharara. Rabia always pulls off traditional looks so effortlessly and this time was no different. She turned heads in this all white gharara by Mohsin Naveed Ranjha. She paired it with jhumkas, silver bangles and kept her hair simple in a bun.
Hania Amir looks picture perfect in Lulusar’s eid collection. She wears a gorgeous rust outfit which is a perfect fusion between eastern and western. We especially love the dupata. Hania pairs the look with black statement heels.
