Fashion Pakistan Lounge hosted their annual festive multi-designer exhibit with a bang.

As much as we love eating food, the clean up is the absolute worst. Who likes washing 20 different dishes and silverware? Not us. This is why we’re big fans of the one pan, one pot, one bowl kind of meals. No fuss, no cleanup. As the weather gets chillier, this warm, hearty chicken and sweet potato dinner is not only delicious and comforting, but also so wonderfully easy —both to make and to clean up. Just a handful of ingredients, and one baking pan and you have yourself a healthy, hearty dinner!

Ingredients:

4 chicken thighs
2 sweet potatoes
2 medium onions
Paprika
Cajun seasoning
Garlic powder
Oregano
Salt
Butter or olive oil

Method:
Clean and pat dry your chicken using a paper towel. Using a knife, poke some slits onto the chicken on both sides. Sprinkle paprika, cajun seasoning, garlic powder, oregano and salt on one side of the thighs, and massage it into the chicken. Drizzle a few drops of oil if needed. Flip the thighs and repeat on the other side. Let the chicken marinate in your baking pan for a while.

In the meantime, wash your sweet potatoes, and then using a fork, carefully puncture holes all over the potato. This will ensure quicker cooking, as well as prevent the potato from exploding due to trapped steam. Next, dice up your onion into big cubes. On the baking tray where the chicken is resting, drizzle some more olive oil and throw in the onion cubes, tossing them around so that they get all mixed up in the oil as well as the chicken seasoning. Peel open the layers of the onion if needed. Place the chicken thighs on top of the onions and drizzle on some more olive oil. Next take your sweet potatoes and roll them around in the olive oil too.

Place the baking tray in the oven and bake for an hour. About 30 minutes in, take the sweet potatoes out and slice them in half so that they can cook faster. Keep checking on when the various components look to be ready and then serve and enjoy!

Bridal MUA Sehrish Amir shares her top make up tips with us for wedding season.

What are some make up trends for the upcoming wedding season?

Clients are more inclined towards snatched and lifted looks this season. Though the classic gold eyes and red lips are still in demand nonetheless.

What tips can you give our readers to make their foundation look natural?

My top tip would be to prep your skin. If your canvas is well prepared and you’ve taken good skin care you hardly need foundation.

How do you suggest people protect their natural skin and hair from makeup and styling?

Primer before doing foundation and heat protecting spray before any hairstyling.

What is your go to skincare routine?

My routine is very basic with a Murad face wash and La Mer moisturizer. I exfoliate once a week and use masks at least three times in a month.

What mistakes do most brides make in your opinion?

Most times they want a makeup look that wouldn’t suit their face.

If you could give the brides who come to you advice, what would it be?

Please trust your makeup artist.

What challenges have you faced as an MUA in Pakistan?

Mainly, I’ve found that finding and building a team that can work with your vibe is quite the challenge.

What consists of your every day makeup kit?

A few things that make up my every day makeup kit are:

NARS foundation, MAC mascara, blush, gel eye liner, contour, lipstick and a lip liner.

What are your top 5 foundations?

  • Dior
  • Nars Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation
  • Mac Studio Fix Fluid
  • Ester Lauder Double Wear Foundation
  • Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Foundation

Hania Amir turned heads at a recent wedding in this all white Hussain Rehar outfit. She paired the beautiful ensemble with sparkly butterfly earrings. We do wish she had opted for a different shoe but she looks stunning nonetheless.

Habiba Rahman as Belle was one of the highlights of our fortnight. If you’re not following Habiba and her designing adventures on instagram then you’re truly missing out. Habiba stitched and styled this entire look for Halloween. We think she looks absolutely perfect as Belle.

Amna Hassan Tahir truly is one of our favourite fashionistas. She serves one look after the other and quite frankly it gets hard for us to choose the best one because she always looks so good! Spotted in sunny Dubai, Amna wore a white peasant style blouse with white shorts. She accessorised her super casual look with pink mini bag and matching shoes.

Uzma Khan shows us that simplicity is truly the ultimate sophistication. She looks radiant in a black jumpsuit. She adds a pop of colour to her look with a customised sparkly green clutch.

Our fave London influencer Shanzay Sheikh shows us how to stay warm while slaying this winter season. She pairs a knitted turtle neck and a black coat with flared pants. Her Gucci fur slippers tie the look together.

Tell us about your journey. How did you decide to pursue a career in music? Is this something you always wanted to do?

With time, it grew more and more apparent to us that this was what was needed to be done.

How did you guys meet?

We both met at a gig for HBL when we were both still in university. We got to know each other there, one thing led to another and we started making songs together.

What are your hobbies outside of singing and performing?

Roshaan likes to play Fifa and F1 (along with other story based games), learn languages, and meditate. Hassan likes photography and cricket.

Has your perception of the entertainment industry in Pakistan changed overtime? If yes, how?

Our perception only changed with the changing landscape of the Pakistani music scene. When we started out, the industry was as expected, barren. But now, thanks to all of the new artists and of course the listeners, the industry is on the right track.

People in Pakistan don’t consider music or singing a “proper” profession. Did you have trouble with your parents or families when you decided to pursue this career?

Although Hassan and I were both graduates of Economics, during our university years we had to decide (at different points in our lives) if we wanted to get a job in the field of economics or strive to become a musician in Pakistan. Of course we had consider all factors and take a decision that was the most practical for us, which is why both of us eventually decided to become musicians.

What does the process of making look like for you guys?

Each song has its own story. Some songs come out smooth like butter, but for some our ideas just LOVE to take their sweet sweet time 🙂

What’s your favourite part about being a musician?

The one of a kind, special bond we get to build with our listeners.

Name three things on your bucket list.

Collaborate with an international level A-lister artist – Do at least one show in all the continents of the world (except Antarctica of course) – Fix the muslim shower in my washroom (like, you have to turn the entire tap offotherwise it just keeps leaking its just…annoying as hell…and I keep PROCRASTINATING TO GET A NEW ONE) (actually, after im done with this interview im going to get a new one…DONE)

Who is your inspiration?

There are many figures we look up to for various reasons——- but if we were to summarise it would be AR Rahman for both Hassan & Roshaan, and Diego Maradona for Roshaan

Describe your perfect day offwhen youre not working.

For Roshaan its a peaceful day of gaming while listening to a bossa nova playlist, for Hassan its cricket, photography and meditation.

What advice do you have for aspiring musicians?

Focus on becoming unique not skillful. Dont get us wrong, skill is a great thing and its really really good to practice your craft, but the intention should be to become one of a kind and to aid your own unique expression, not to acquire skill without knowing what to do with it. Consistently keep creating and releasing music and you will eventually find your audience. right things willl come to you at the right time.

Laraib Shamsi turned heads at a recent wedding in this sexy Sadaf Fawad Khan ruffled saree. She paired the saree with over sized, traditional jhumkas and a necklace. Her bronzey eye makeup tied the look together.

The big, enormous lehnga cholis are great, sure. But there is something so contemporary about the simple and sleek kurta sharara. Sijjal looks ravishing in this Abhinav Mishra number. The mirror worked outfit is like a dream. 10/10!

Former model Alyzeh Gabol took to her Instagram to post this all pink look. This Nadine Merabi number is no joke. It’s silhouette is genius. It’s giving playfulness while maintaining Alyzehs lean figure. She pairs the outfit with a Ralph and Russo clutch and minimalistic jewelry. We love her wavy hair and fresh makeup.

There is something so fabulously sleek about Sadaf Kanwal’s look. She looks put together without trying too hard in this bright yellow Shamsha Hashwani kurta. She opts for white flared pants to go with it. Our favourite part about the look have to be her long luscious locks!

One of our favourite fashionistas Mahnoor Ali Wattoo looked amazing in this outfit by Sapphire. We love how she styled the outfit. Her big chunky earrings and strappy heels are right on trend.

Mahira Khan has served SO many looks this week that it was honestly hard to choose the best one but this saree moment was the winner for us. Dressed in Faraz Manan Mahira looked like a dream. She wore her hair in waves and wore light makeup (in classic MK fashion).

Everyone’s fave rockstar Hassan Rahim has been serving looks! We’ve seen him take some risks with his outfits and this one has really paid off. Hassan wore a plain white turtleneck with these super retro green and black flared pants at the Coke Studio Live event in Dubai last week. His chunky black shoes tied the look together. We love it!

It’s true. Winter is almost here. A new season means changing makeup and beauty trends and we’re here to update you with the latest trends for fall/winter.

Sunburnt Blush
Yes I’m sure you’ve already seen all the viral Tiktoks recreating this beauty hack. Love it or hate it, but the sunburnt blush look is here to stay. Achieve it by putting on some cream of powder blush on the apples of cheeks and on the bridge of your nose instead of the tip.

Big Brows
Fluffy brows are all the rage right now and to be honest, this might just be one of our favorite trends because it’s so easy to do. Get your hands on brow gel or just regular get and a spoolie and swipe your brows upwards.

Statement Eyes
Whether its graphic eye liner or bright eye shadow, statement eyes are spotted all over the runway this season. Swap out your regular black eye liner for some colored ones or use a single color that goes well with your skin tone. You’ll thank us later.

Embellishments
Yes, you heard it right. Products such as glitters and embellishments are all back. Basically everything you wore in the 90’s and swore off of has made its comeback. Most people are referring to this trend as the Euphoria theme, inspired by the super popular TV show and its stunning makeup looks. “As the Euphoria theme carries on, there are splashes of frosty shades, a play with metallic accents with block silver or colour foil,” says makeup artist and founder of Studio One Makeup Lan Nguyen-Grealis. “Think shimmering highlights and adornment jewels around the eye with clean skin.”

Skincare
Beauty trends will come and go but it’s important to make sure you give extra importance to your skin during fall. Drink lots of water to make sure you’re hydrated, apply that extra lip balm to keep those chapped lips away and run a humidifier!

SAK Atelier is one of our favourite brands. They’ve got the perfect fusion aesthetic. This brown colour block kurta is a total hit. We love that Zarminay paired it with loose beachy waves and simple makeup.

Is there anything better than a black dress? Clearly not. We love Anushe’s outfit. We love everything about this look: from the black dress to the sparkly silver heels, it’s a yes from us! We love Anushe’s bold lip colour and straight hair. 10/10!

Zahra Sarfaraz looks like a vision in this stunning yellow lengha choli for one of her wedding functions. The dress was designed by local craftsmen at her mother’s village. We love the intricate work. Zahra wore her hair straight with a middle part (classic!) and chose chunky polki jewelry.

Alishay Adnan makes a statement in this green dress. We absolutely love the silhouette and colour. She pairs the dress with pointy heels from Dune Pakistan. We’re obsessed!

Ammal Naeem turned heads at a recent wedding in Sehrish Rehan. We love all of Sehrish’s designs but this one stands out. She accessorized her outfit with a chunky tikka and big earrings. Her slicked back bun tied the look together.

Manahyl and her daughter are giving some serious mommy and me goals in this stunning look by mia and mila luxury. We love the simple black outfits. The work is delicate. We especially love the ruffled pants – so trendy!
